PERMANENT MAKE UP FAQ's

Brows

Q. What is permanent make up?
A. A process of pigment being implanted into the upper dermis of the skin which is a form of tattooing.
This can be done with a digital handpiece with a needle, (this is my chosen method single for fine hairstrokes and other needle groupings for shaded brows) or microblading which is a manual hand held tool which slices the skin.
It may be called permanent make up, semi permanent make up, cosmetic tattooing.

Q. Do you shave off my eyebrows?
A. No I will only pluck any hair that fall outwith the new shape chosen for you, I always try and keep as much natural hair as possible.

Q. Does it hurt?
A. Everyone's pain tolerance is different some people might find it a little scratchy, while others don't feel it at all.
Q. How long does it last?
A. Everyone is different there are a number of factors that can affect the longevity of your Pmu 1-2 years is typical but other may need to have them topped up sooner or may even go 3-4 years.
Q. How is it done?
A. My choosen method is with a single needle and digital machine as I find I can get very fine strokes with precision.

Q. Do the brows have to big?
A. Absolutely not, some clients do not suit a bold brow or want a more subtle effect.
Q. Do you have different colours?
A. Yes I have a wide variety of pigments from lightest blond to darkest brown, I also mix different ratios of colours to get the right shade for you.

Q. Is this microblading?
A. No I use a digital handpiece and a single needle to create fine hair hairstrokes, the machine perforates the skin the same as a body tattoo but not as deep I believe this method is better as it’s suited to more skin types and doesn’t create scar tissue in the skin.
Q. Is this tattoo ink?
A. No I use permanent make up pigments specifically designed for the face. The difference with ink and pmu pigments are the molecule sizes ink cannot get out of the skin so changes colour, where pmu pigments the colour will fade but the colour stays stable as it fades.
Q. Why is it called permanent make up if it fades and you have to have top ups?
A. Each client is different and the pigment my stay visible in the skin for varying amounts of time, so it may have disappeared in two years completely for one person but for another client could still be faintly visible in 20 years.
Q. What age can you have this procedure?
A. Anyone over the age over 18

Lip blush faq’s
Q, Can it make your lips bigger?
A, No if you want bigger lips it’s filler all the way, To tattoo onto skin outside of your natural lip line will not heal well at all, but if you have pale undefined lips it can make them appear bigger
Q, Can you have a paler colour that your own lips?
A, No we can change the tone of your lips, warmer colours will make them appear a little lighter but going lighter than your own natural lip colour will look chalky
Q, Does it hurt?
A, So as with everything pain sensitivity is very personal so it’s really down to the individual, the lips have many nerve endings so it does make it more sensitive than brows or eyeliner, but that being said the technique is very gentle now so pain should be minimal, also pre numbing cream is used.
Additional information
Any trauma to lips can cause an outbreak of cold sores, even if you haven’t had one before people can carry the virus without knowing. Taking aciclovair a week before and after is recommended if you have had an outbreak before.
Colour results will vary as everyone’s lips are different colours and tones to begin with, again healed results will vary person to person as with all permanent make up depending on how your body retains the pigment.
You will have scabbing, again varies person to person but the surface healing time is around 5-7 days with lips.
